BLOCK PARTY 2007 Was a HUGE Success!!!
Champion Church of the Nazarene would like to thank the hundreds of neighbors who turned out for the fourth annual community block party, Saturday, July 7. On a beautiful, sunny day, the church grounds were buzzing with kids, teens and adults, lining up for free hot dogs, pop corn, cotton candy, snow cones, and water. Of great interest were the car show, the Bikers for Christ motorcycle ride, the cakewalk, games, crafts, huge inflatable slide, donkey cart rides, and the sky-scraping rock climbing wall. Of course, there were many valuable give-away’s thanks to the many community businesses that supported the event. A happy boy and girl rode away on brand new bicycles--the grand prizes.
Entertainment included a concert by "New Covenant" of Mount Vernon Nazarene University, and Power Team's Steve Carrier, from Dallas Texas. Steve, at 6'4", 290 lbs, with 22" biceps, broke baseball bats, ripped stacks of phone books, bent bars of steel, and broke a wall of bricks with one strike of his arm. Most importantly, Steve challenged us all to become "World Class Christians," forgiven, changed and standing strong for Jesus Christ. Sixty-three people responded over the weekend with a life-changing decision. "We just want people to know that Jesus loves them and that they can trust Him with their lives," says Pastor Tim McPherson.
